Adult Grief Counseling Support Groups

Support Groups

As part of our ongoing commitment to assisting families through all stages of illness and bereavement, Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County offers a number of support groups designed to meet the needs of both adults and children who are coping with grief and loss.

All members of the community are invited to participate in these groups, regardless of whether they received other services from HPCIC. There is no fee to attend, but advanced registration is requested.

Rainbow Kidz Grief Programs

Recognizing that children react very differently to grief than adults, Rainbow Kidz provides one-one-one bereavement counseling tailored to their special needs. These services are available to any child or adolescent who has experienced the death of a friend or loved one.

For more information or to register for any of these programs, call Leigh Ann Darty, MSW, LCSW at 704-873-4719, ext. 4313.

School Grief Support Groups

Led by hospice social workers, these weekly group sessions are held in elementary, middle and high schools to help students who have suffered a loss.

Camp Rainbow

This is an annual one-week bereavement camp for children who are coping with grief after losing a loved one. There is no cost to attend, and the camp is open to all members of the community, regardless of whether they have received other services from HPCIC.

Perinatal Bereavement

The Rainbow Kidz team is also available at any time to provide support and counseling for parents who have suffered with the loss of a baby. Referrals are usually made by our three area hospitals. Bereavement counseling is provided at no cost to the family.
