Volunteer Opportunities
Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County has an invaluable group of carefully trained volunteers. Under the direction of Teresa Ward, Volunteer Director, this dedicated group of approximately 184 volunteers, contribute thousands of hours annually and help in many ways.
Volunteers may spend time with patients and their caregivers, bringing an extra pair of hands and a special sensitivity to each situation. One of their most valuable roles is to sit and talk with patients. They are good listeners, they are compassionate, and they often form strong bonds with the patients/families they serve. Volunteers are a godsend to many home caregivers, giving them time to go to the store, to church, or out with friends, while the volunteer cares for the patient as a companion. At the Gordon Hospice House, volunteers staff the entrance desk, assist with patients, and perform a variety of other tasks as needed by the house staff.
Not all volunteers are involved directly with patient visits. Many choose to give of their time and talents in either our Mooresville or Statesville office, assisting with clerical duties, mailings, and special projects. Whether you choose to work directly with patients and families or volunteer for the organization’s many other needs, your efforts will make a difference in someone's life.
We always welcome new volunteers, and invite you to attend our next volunteer training session.
